Ruamahanga River at Wardells

The Ruamāhanga River is the largest river in the Wairarapa.  With headwaters in the Tararua Ranges, the river flows through the Wairarapa Valley for about 130 kilometres. 

This site is located in the middle reaches of the Ruamāhanga river, approximately one kilometre upstream from the Waingawa confluence.
