Lake Waro at Launch Site
Lake Waro is a 4 hectare lake, just a little over 5 m deep and is located in the Waro Limestone Scenic Reserve near Hikurangi township.
This site is part of Northland Regional Council's swimming water quality programme.
The surrounding catchment is a reserve with a refuse dump, some pasture and residential development. Access is by road but no power boating is permitted. It is used for recreation and is popular for distance-swimming.
