Tirohanga at Tirohanga Road
The Tirohanga Stream is a major tributary of the Kawakawa River, which flows into the Waikare Inlet in the Bay of Islands. The Tirohanga Stream site is located off Tirohanga Road by the Far North District Council's water take to the east of Kawakawa.
The Tirohanga Stream is a popular swimming site but occasionally elevated bacteria levels, especially after rainfall, can temporarily make the stream unsuitable for swimming.
