ICOLL

ICOLLs (Intermittently Closing and Opening Lakes and Lagoons) describe a coastal lagoon or tidal lagoon with an intermittently closed and open direct connection to the sea.  In their natural state, these lakes and estuaries fill with freshwater until they breach a coastal barrier that results in a rapid loss of freshwater from the lagoon.
