The Whatitirinui Island site is located in the north-western arm of Whaingaroa (Raglan) Harbour on intertidal sand/mudflats, north of Raglan Wharf/town and around 3km from the harbour mouth. This site has been monitored since 2001 and is generally sampled once each year for sediment-dwelling organisms (macrofauna) and sediment characteristics. The site is in good health and the sediment mud content ranges from 12 – 25%.
