The Pungaereere Stream originates in Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki (the national park) and flows westward through farmland for approximately 23 kilometres before reaching the ocean at Rāhotu. The catchment includes a mix of native forest and agricultural land, with the upper reaches characterised by steep terrain and rocky streambeds.
