Pakarae River
The Pakarae river meanders through typical East Coast sheep and cattle properties on the coastal stretch North of Gisborne.
The Pakarae River catchment area is 242 km2 with the river being predominantly soft bottomed due to the frequent flooding and highly erodible soil that contributes to a high sediment load.
There is no irrigation sourced from the Pakarae.
Stock have access to the river in many places.
