PM10 was measured at this site (Sumner Primary School) for six months during 2001. During this time PM10 exceeded the daily guideline on a number of days. PM2.5 was measured for a month in summer, and concentrations were low, including on days when the PM10 concentrations were high. This suggests that much of the PM10 on those days was larger than PM2.5, which is to be expected in a coastal environment where a proportion of the PM is likely to be sea-salt.
