Ozone was measured at this site in the summer of 1998. Concentrations were below guidelines. Monitoring of ozone at Kainga was undertaken as part of a study of the effect of Christchurch emissions, particularly motor vehicle emissions, on ozone concentrations. Kainga was chosen as a site because it is downwind of Christchurch during southerly winds. Summer was chosen because of the role of sunlight in ozone formation.
