The length of waterways (in kilometres).
The waterway length in catchments is calculated from the river network developed for the River Environment Classification (REC). The REC is a database of catchment spatial attributes, summarised for every segment in New Zealand's network of rivers. This statistic is provided by the Healthy Waterways register and is used in the Actions for Healthy Waterways topic.
