Traffic sources of air pollution

Cars, buses, off-road vehicles, trucks, diesel trains and planes produce exhaust containing fine particles (PM2.5 and smaller) and other air pollutants, such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, benzene and nitrogen dioxide. Traffic can also create dust, especially on unsealed roads, which can lead to high levels of PM10.
