National Environmental Monitoring Standards

A set of National Environmental Monitoring Standards (NEMS) have been developed to describe best practice for implementing continuous measurement of a range of environmental parameters, the appropriate quality coding of data, and relevant supporting information for the standard.   The development of NEMS was led by regional and unitary councils from across New Zealand, in partnership with the electricity generation industry and the NIWA, with the support of the Regional Chief Executive Officers (RCEO) and the Ministry for the Environment (MfE).
