Industrial sources of air pollution

Burning wood, coal, gas, diesel or other materials for space heating in commercial or public service premises (e.g., schools and hospitals), or industrial processes, releases air pollutants. These include PM10, PM2.5, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, benzene and nitrogen dioxide.  Other industrial processes like spray painting and dry cleaning release pollutants such as volatile organic compounds. Industrial emissions are controlled by regulation depending on the quantity and type of pollutants discharged.
