Nelson City Council and Friends of the Maitai have been working together to explain some of the results from the river care monitoring group, as part of the Celebrate Science with Cawthron Family Fun Day.
The NCC/Friends of the Maitai stall included a poster, games and interactive activities, including ‘find and identify freshwater invertebrate bugs’ and ‘have a go with some of the water monitoring equipment’ provided by NIWA.
The event was attended by 500 people, mainly Nelson residents with some children spending over an hour looking at various freshwater bugs.
View the poster and find out more about what they learnt.
