Lower Clutha Flood Protection and Drainage Scheme drop-in session

08 Dec 2016, 2:30pm - 6:30pm Somerville Lounge, Balclutha Memorial Hall, 4 Clyde Street, Balclutha Otago

Come to our drop-in session, we'd like to hear from you.

ORC welcomes you to come learn about the planned work programme and have a chat with staff. There will also be an opportunity to give us feedback on the scheme and our plans, as we value your local knowledge in helping us protect you and your land.

The mighty Clutha River is the longest river in the South Island. Springing from the Central Otago mountains, it winds out to sea through the Lower Clutha floodplains.

In times of heavy rain or snow melt, Otago Regional Council’s (ORC) Lower Clutha Flood Protection and Drainage Scheme helps protect the Lower Clutha community and environment from flooding.

We are in the process of confirming the programme of works for the Lower Clutha Flood Protection and Drainage Scheme for 2017 – 18, as part of our wider council annual planning.

This involves general upkeep such as maintaining the pump stations, clearing the drain networks of debris, and weed control. We are also improving existing infrastructure and protective works to help keep Lower Clutha safe.
