10 Jul 2014, 6:00pm - 9:00pm Nelson College for Girls Hall Nelson

2014 Royal Society Charles Fleming Lecture Tour.

Admission $2 for non-members on the door, members free.

New Zealand’s freshwaters – our lakes, rivers and groundwater outside of the conservation estate – are in a perilous state. In his 2014 Charles Fleming Lecture, Dr Mike Joy suggests it is past time for scientists to come out from behind their microscopes, binoculars and computer screens and make a stand on the many environmental issues facing New Zealanders.

Mike Joy is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology and Environmental Science at Massey University, and an outspoken advocate for environmental protection in New Zealand. He received the Charles Fleming Award in 2013 for his key contribution to the sustainable management and protection of New Zealand’s freshwater resources.
