Wellington Water identified a slip face that has damaged the wastewater main behind 36 McColl Street, Vogeltown. This has resulted in a discharge which is being captured in the stormwater network. It is anticipated that this discharge will surface from the outlet near Shorland Park, Island Bay.
Wellington Water crew are actively working to remedy this wastewater discharge. Updates will be made as work progresses.
Until further notice, we advise people avoid swimming and other recreational activities due to the increase health risk as a result of the wastewater discharge from Vogeltown.
