Wellington Water identified wastewater pipes in the area of Vancouver Street that had been damaged by a recent slip. These damaged pipes are resulting in a discharge of wastewater to a nearby water course, which leads into Ōwhiro Bay.
Wellington Water crews are working on repairs, and have placed signs near the outlet on Ōwhiro Bay.
As a result of this discharge, we recommend people avoid swimming and other recreational activities until further notice. Updates will be made as work progresses.
