Due to heavy rain, untreated wastewater discharging from Moa Point was released via the short outfall, off the coast at Tarakena Bay. This discharge began April 12th 5:30pm and has since been diverted to the long outfall pipe. The discharge via the short outfall pipe was short in duration.
As previously advised, these sites along Wellingtons south coast will display RED for a minimum of 48hours in response to any discharge via the short outfall pipe as a precaution to the increased risk.
We advise no swimming or recreational activities along Wellingtons south coast until 09:00am Wednesday, 15th April.
