Recreation information has moved to the "Can I Swim Here?" section of LAWA
Lake Ngaroto/Wairoto is the largest of the Waipa peat lakes. The surrounding catchment is mainly pastoral but restoration efforts have involved fencing and planting the lake edge with native plants. The lake is part of a 149.1 ha recreation reserve that is managed by Waipa District Council, to protect and maintain its important recreational, cultural and natural values.
