Please be informed that there has been an overflow from the NPDC wastewater system at multiple locations that have the potential to affect public health. The cause of the discharge was a rain event.
The discharge occurred at Puke Ariki Landing, Ngamotu pump station, Huatoki pump station, Glen Avon pump station, Mangati pump station, under Northgate bridge and the Inglewood oxidation pond. All have ceased and NPDC's team has responded and are on-site cleaning and sanitising.
Sites affected include:
- Ngamotu Beach
- East End Beach
- Bell Block Beach
- Tasman Sea below Bunnings
- Tasman Sea at Kawaroa Park
- Huatoki Stream mouth
- Te Henui Stream mouth
- Waiwhakaiho River at Te Rewa Rewa Bridge
Warning signs advising against swimming have been erected at affected sites, and will be in place for 48 hours after the discharge has ceased. It is recommended that there is no kai collection / food gathering until after 31/07/2025.
