Waikawa River

The Waikawa River catchment flows through hill country down to the Waikawa Harbour and includes some native and exotic forests. Much of the land in the catchment has been cleared and is used for relatively low intensity agriculture.

Phosphorous, E.coli and sediment levels are elevated in the catchment, and the upper parts of the harbour are subject to fine sediment deposition.
