Kaikokopu Stream at Himatangi Beach

Kaikokopu Stream has public access at its mouth at Himitangi Beach. It is a popular swimming spot especially for young children due to its shallow depth and low flows for much of the summer period. E. coli concentrations can breach contact recreation guidelines at times especially following rainfall and it is recommended to wait after rainfall events until the stream is clear again before swimming.
