Recreational water quality update- Southern swim sites

The severe weather from Cyclone Gabrielle resulted in a wide range of impacts that will persist for some time.

The HBRC recreational water quality testing programme was put on hold following this event. It was then resumed for two weeks completing the summer season on the 3rd of April.

Long-term grades have now replaced weekly test results.

These grades are based on 5 years of data and should be used as a guide to general water quality.

If visiting swim sites, be aware of any changes in riverbanks, sediment, beach slope, bars, currents and amount of debris.
