Situated in the Waitangi Estuary, the confluence of the Tutaekuri, Ngaruroro and Clive Rivers, the Waitangi estuary site is in a high depositional environment. This sites is characterised by the amphipod Paracorophium excavatum and the estuarine snail Halopyrgus estuarine. This site has been monitored annually since 2013, however in some years monitoring is not possible due to the closure of the barrier mouth.
