The Waipara River is monitored for recreational water quality during the summer months from a man made swimming hole, located at the Waipara Boys Brigade camp, just North of SH1.
This swimming hole is on the southern side of the river. It is surrounded by willows and some scrub. While the river can have quite low flows in summer, the pool provides a popular spot for swimming and picnicing.
