Boundary Drain is a spring-fed stream and tributaries in Mid Canterbury. It flows through low-lying farmland and intermittently discharges to the coastal environment via a donga, which is a remnant channel of the former Hinds/Hekeao River flow path. The outlet opens intermittently due to coastal processes such as barrier formation and breaching. The catchment is mainly pastoral with small wetlands and riparian areas. These waterways support habitat for birds and contribute to the coastal ecosystem.
