Lake Clearwater west of huts
Lake Clearwater / Te Puna-a-Taka is shallow high country lake located in the upper Ashburton basin, in a wide open valley surrounded by mountains.
This site is monitored for recreational water quality during the summer months only.
This is a popular site for windsurfing, and ice skating on the lake in winter; and there are many options for Mountain bikers. There are several nature reserves surrounding the lake with the rare crested grebs nesting in the catchment.
Powered vessels are not permitted in this lake.
