Wainui-te-whara at Mokorua Gorge

The Wainui-te-whara at Mokorua Gorge site is situated within Whakatane town and was jointly funded by Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Whakatane District Council.

Flows at this site can get as low as 0.009 m3/s, but normal flows are closer to 0.114 m3/s. In 2010 a high flow of 30.7 m3/s caused localised flooding and damage within Whakatane.
