Papakura

This monitoring site is located near the Great South Rd bridge at Takanini approximately 30 km south of Auckland city and is in the lower part of the catchment.

The site was established in June 1969 for the purposes of recording flood events for the Manukau City Council.
The Papakura Stream drains into the Manukau Harbour and is subject to flooding in heavy rain events.
The site was closed for about 3 years from early 1982 and re-opened in the beginning of 1985 when its importance as a flood and low flow site was realised.
The site is also important for monitoring effects of urban residential landuse.
