This site is in the middle of the Rangitopuni Creek arm of the Upper Waitematā Harbour. The creek is formed by the Rangitopuni River which drains a mostly rural catchment. The site has been monitored since 2005 to track any impacts of urban development in the catchment.
Mud content and macrofauna are sampled every three months, and contaminants every three years. Mud content is so high that sampling must be done by boat as the site is too muddy to walk on. The ecological condition of this site is poor.
