This site is one of three monitoring sites in the Lucas Creek arm of the Upper Waitematā Harbour. It is the closest to the main channel of the estuary and has been monitored since 2005 to detect impacts of urban development in the catchment.
Mud content and macrofauna are sampled every three months, and contaminants every three years. The ecology of this site is moderately impacted by mud but is unlikely to be negatively affected by heavy metal concentrations.
