This site is in the middle of the Brigham Creek arm of the Upper Waitematā Harbour. Several streams drain into the creek and it is surrounded by mostly rural land uses. The site has been monitored since 2005 as part of an estuary-wide network to detect impacts of urban development in the surrounding catchments.
Mud content, macrofauna and contaminants are sampled every three years. Mud content is very high and heavy metal contaminants may also be having a negative impact on ecology at this site.
