This site is on a muddy sandflat to the east of the rocky Te Tokaroa (Meola) Reef and is dissected by a small channel. Both Meola Creek and Motions Creek drain past the site, and it is one of the more sheltered sites in the main body of the Central Waitematā Harbour.
The site has been monitored since 2000, mud content is sampled every four months and macrofauna and heavy metal contaminants are sampled roughly every five years. The site has moderately high mud content and low contaminant concentrations and is in fair ecological health.
