This site is on a large sandflat downstream of Henderson Creek and is designed to contribute to a regional understanding of estuary health, as well as provide information on any impacts from the mostly industrial and residential catchment. The sandflat is fringed by mangroves and houses patches of Pacific oysters.
Monitoring began at this site in 2000 and is sampled every four months for mud content, and roughly every five years for heavy metal contaminants and macrofauna. Mud content is variable whilst contaminant concentrations are generally low, resulting in fair ecological health across the site.
