The Ōtāhuhu site is located on a mangrove lined mudflat in the lower reaches of Ōtāhuhu Creek, approximately 500m from the confluence with the Tāmaki Estuary main channel. The site is adjacent to Seaside Park, and the wider catchment comprises high density residential and commercial land use. This site is currently sampled every few years for macrofauna, mud content and metals.
This site has been sampled since 2004 and has had consistently elevated levels of the heavy metal zinc.
