Pukaki Airport is one of three sites in the Pukaki Inlet on the eastern shoreline of the Manukau Harbour. This muddy site is in the lower reaches of the inlet and has been monitored since 1998. Currently, this site has relatively low levels of metal contamination, and is monitored every few years for macrofauna, mud content and metals. Land use surrounding Pukaki Airport is largely rural but zoned for future urban development.
