Mauku/Taihiki River A is one of two sites located in the Taihiki River, a large tributary running off the Waiuku River in the southwestern corner of the Manukau Harbour. This is a relatively new site and has been sampled twice since it was established in 2019. The site is sampled for macrofauna, mud content and the metals copper, lead, zinc, arsenic, and mercury.
The catchment surrounding this site is mostly rural and the site is the sandier of the two Taihiki River sites.
