This site is located on a sandflat in the eastern arm of Mahurangi Harbour that drains the Te Kapa River. The sediment at the site is quite variable, with one half being noticeably muddier than the other.
Monitoring has taken place here since 1995, with mud content and macrofauna sampled every three months and heavy metal contaminants roughly every ten years. Overall, mud content is moderately high and contamination is low, resulting in fair health.
