Little Shoal Bay is a great spot to stop for a picnic and enjoy views over the water to Auckland CBD.
There is also a playground and plenty of open space for children to run around. A number of boats are anchored on the mudflat at Little Shoal Bay.
The mudflat makes Little Shoal Bay less suited to swimming than other nearby sites, but if you do enter the water or use paddle or sail craft, wear a lifejacket, check the conditions, and take the right gear (www.adventuresmart.org.nz).
Stay well clear of vessel moorings when swimming or using paddle craft, and beware of strong currents beyond the shelter of Little Shoal Bay.
