UPDATE 4 Feb 2020: Toxic algae warning at Waipoua River

⚠️ TOXIC ALGAE UPDATE 4 Feb 2020⚠️: There continues to be high levels of toxic algae throughout the entire Waipoua River, especially south of Paierau Rd where the river flows through Masterton township.

We recommend you avoid swimming and keep dogs on leads & away from the river at all times as it represents a very real risk to human and animal health.

Other rivers in the Wairarapa are clear of toxic algae and safe for swimming providing it has not rained for 48 hours.
