Toxic algae caution: Ruamāhanga River from Double Bridges to the Waingawa Confluence.

There is an amber alert for the Ruamāhanga River at Double Bridges and Ruamāhanga River at Te Ore Ore due to high levels of toxic algae being observed at these sites. We recommend keeping your dog away from the river because toxic algae represents a very real risk to human and animal health. Caution is also advised along the Ruamāhanga River from Double Bridges to the Waingawa confluence.

If you have been in contact with toxic algae and are feeling unwell see your doctor or ring Healthline 0800 611 116. If you think your dog has swallowed toxic algae, take it to the nearest vet immediately.
