Waimamaku at Wekaweka Road

The Waimamaku River begins north of the Waipoua Forest and flows west through Waimamaku township, eventually reaching the West Coast south of the Hokianga Harbour.

The Waimamaku River at the Wekaweka Road bridge is just off State Highway 12, close to the township of Waimamaku in the Hokianga. The catchment is dominated by native forest in the upper reaches and is mainly pastoral in the lower catchment. Bacteria levels are slightly elevated and are a result of farm rainfall-runoff and livestock access to waterways.

The swimming site is a pleasant bouldery river with stony beaches and is a popular swimming site.
