Ākitio
The Ākitio catchment encompasses the Ākitio River, which flows for 35 kilometres in a southeasterly direction before entering the Pacific Ocean at Ākitio, and the Waihi Stream. Ākitio is a coastal community located in the Tararua District. The Ākitio River has been identified as a site of significance for aquatic life.
