Kahuterawa Stream at Sledge Track

This popular recreational spot is found nestled in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges about 15 minutes' drive from Palmerston North. Head south on State Highway 57, turn onto Old West Road and then Kahuterawa Road to get there. The Swimming hole is at the end of the road and up the Sledge track.

There is a toilet and picnic tables on site available to the public.

Microbial concentrations can breach guideline values at times, especially following rainfall events. It is recommended to wait until after rainfall events until the stream is clear before swimming. This site is located next to the Kahuterawa Stream, a stream noted for its high native fish values.

Upstream landuse consists of a mixture of low intensity farming, exotic forestry and native bush.
