Due to recent heavy rainfall, the access track down to the bottom of the falls is currently closed and works are being carried out by Hastings District Council to reinstate access to this site. At present, with no access to the bottom of the falls we are sampling for water quality at the top of the falls - please be advised the water quality results from the top may differ from the bottom. This is the current status of the Maraetotara Falls access as at 1st Feb 2026, and we hope to update this status as soon as possible.
