Selwyn River at Glentunnel

This site is located in the upper reaches of the Selwyn River, in the small township of Glentunnel.

This site is monitored for recreational water quality during the summer months  only.

This site is accessed through the Glentunnel camping ground. A swimming hole is usually dug out each summer, making this a popular swimming spot.

Recreational water quality at this site is influenced by flow related spikes in E. coli. Swimming is not recommended at the site for up to 48hrs following rainfall. During the summer months, potentially toxic cyanobacteria mats may pose a public health risk at this site.
