Otaio River at Otaio Gorge

The Otaio River at Otaio Gorge is a small boulder strewn river bed in a DOC reserve.

This site is monitored for recreational water quality during the summer months only.

A small area of the shallow gently flowing river near the bridge is often dammed in summer to make a swiming hole. This is a natural area surrounded by scrub.  This is a popular freedom camping site.
